Mission of State Colleges

Ken Haar produced the following.

How do we get the message about the place of our campus and the state colleges in general in the overall scheme of education in Massachusetts before the new governor and the leaders of the legislature in a way that will have impact on the coming reorganization? It is coming, but we know not the form or the time. UMASS professors produced a 23 page whitepaper (attached below) laying out their vision of the entire higher ed system that is now in the hands of the transition team. Deval Patrick will make some changes in the governance structure of education in the commonwealth. Our voices need to be heard because the state college administrations are not acting in concert with a single agenda in this process.

In 2002 the Massachusetts Institute for Social and Economic Research MISER published an analysis of the economic impact of higher education on the state's economy. That report is also attached below.
